About the Founder
My name is Jack Alter. I was born and raised in Aspen, Colorado, and have lived my entire life in the Roaring Fork Valley. I attended the Aspen school system, where I was introduced to a remarkable woodworking program that ignited my passion for the trades. Throughout high school, I gained valuable experience in construction, woodworking, and the business side of the trades by working with my woodshop teacher at his construction company. After graduating, I continued to hone my skills while working toward starting my own woodworking business. In 2022, I founded Fat City Skis LLC, driven by my dream of creating and selling custom skis. However, my love for woodworking is equally strong, so I also established FCS Custom Woodworks to continue crafting custom furniture and woodworking art.
